What got you into nutrition?
Originally, I started out in culinary school and graduated with a degree in Culinary Arts and Hospitality. My first professional cooking job was at a hospital where I worked closely with the dietitians to create menus for the patients. After this experience I decided to go back to school to become a Registered Dietitian.
Favorite podcasts: I don’t listen to podcasts…usually just audiobooks! My latest audio book was 'The 7 Husbands of Evelyn Hugo' by Taylor Jenkins Reid, it was so good!
Favorite books: If I am reading for fun, I love romance books and currently just finished 'The Hating Game' by Sally Thorne . My favorite nutrition book is 'Body Kindness' by Scritchfield. My favorite non-romance books would have to be the Harry Potter Series.
Favorite movies: Sing, Finding Nemo, Dirty Dancing, Men in Black.
Personal interests: Cooking and eating delicious foods, camping/hiking, reading, going on adventures.
Family life: My husband's name is Alex and we have two girls, Riley and Millie. My brother and sister-in-law live in Sherwood and the rest of my family lives in Eugene. When I am not working you will find me trying to keep up with the chaos that comes with raising two strong willed daughters.
Superpower with clients: Using humor in sessions.
Favorite Quote: “Perhaps this is the moment for which you were created.”
Dreams for the future: Professionally, I would like to find a space to offer cooking classes/demos to help client’s increase their comfort in the kitchen and love for food. I also want continue to deepen my knowledge of gut health to better help clients who are struggling with GI issues. Personally, I am dreaming of traveling more.
Professional background: I started off in culinary school and graduated with my degree in Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management. I cooked professionally for a couple of years before I went back to school at Oregon State University to be a Registered Dietitian. I completed my Dietetic Internship at Oregon State University. I have been working with Eating Disorders for the past 7 years and have experience working with clients at the residential, partial hospitalization and outpatient level.
